Hello I’m Lisa…
My paternal grandparents were proud union members. My grandfather was a steward with the United Steelworkers, and my grandmother was a member of the American Federation of Government Employees. My maternal grandparents lived on a farm in Ireland. My dad was a letter carrier and eventually became a supervisor in the U.S. Post Office. My mom worked in a bank and later became a clerk at the U.S. Post Office. I got my first job at 14, working at a local Raynham landmark, Landy’s Market. I attended Coyle-Cassidy High School in Taunton.
My daughter was born in 1989, and my son in 1991. I worked while attending school, including as a manager at JCPenney and a public school substitute teacher. When I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from UMass Boston, I landed a job in the library at Fitchburg State College (now University). As a member of AFSCME Local 1067, I quickly became a Chief Steward, and eventually elected President, representing 3,000 classified staff at Massachusetts' community and state colleges. During this time, I also earned my Master’s Degree in Applied Communications from Fitchburg State College.
Ever since graduating, I’ve spent over two decades representing working families—whether healthcare workers, municipal employees, or educators. I’ve sat at kitchen tables working through tough issues because I’ve lived them myself—losing my home while costs kept rising and seeing family and friends struggle with substance use.
Today, I’m a proud grandmother, mom, and resident of the Greater Whittenton neighborhood in Taunton. While many politicians are in it for personal gain, I’m running for State Representative to make sure everyday families have someone in their corner.
