State Representative Lisa Field: A Champion for Easton and Taunton

Meet Lisa

Lisa Field is a proven, effective State Representative who knows how to navigate the realities and complexities of the State House to deliver results for Taunton & Easton.

Lisa’s story is rooted in hard work and public service. A proud daughter of Irish immigrants she was raised in a family that valued labor, community, and responsibility. She watched her parents build their lives through steady, everyday jobs at the Post Office and in local business. Her grandparents’ deep pride in union membership and her family’s working-class foundation shaped the values that still guide her today.

Before serving as State Representative, Lisa Field lived the same realities many families in our community know well; balancing work, raising a family, and navigating the sometimes crippling economic pressures and everyday challenges of life.

Lisa has committed herself to standing up for others facing those same economic challenges.

Lisa Field knows how government works because she has spent years doing the hard, often unseen work required to get results for everyday people. She understands the rules, the processes, and the realities of the legislative system, and more importantly, how to navigate its complexities to deliver real results for her district. That experience now defines her effectiveness at the State House.

As State Representative, Lisa has built a reputation for being accessible, responsive, and relentlessly focused on her constituents. She is known for helping residents cut through bureaucracy, solve problems, and connect with the resources they need. Whether working on policy, advocating within state agencies, or addressing local concerns, Lisa approaches the job with practicality, patience, and empathy.

For Lisa, public service has never been about politics or personal gain. It’s about being there full time, listening carefully, and doing the work that makes a tangible difference in people’s lives.

A proud grandmother, mother, and deeply rooted member of the Taunton and Easton communities, Lisa remains closely connected to the realities of local families because she has lived them herself.

After earning her degree in Political Science and later a Master’s Degree in Applied Communications, Lisa spent more than two decades representing workers, advocating for fairness, and helping people through sometimes life changing events. As a proud member and former president of AFSCME local 1067 she represented thousands of employees, from healthcare workers to municipal employees and laborers to negotiate through complex disputes. She fought and continues to fight to protect the livelihoods of working families.

Lisa on the Issues

Small Businesses & Local Economic Strength

Lisa Field knows the work that visionaries put behind Main Street storefronts, the restaurants that become community gathering places, and the family-owned shops that give Taunton and Easton their character. She believes local businesses are not just part of our economic growth they are part of the identity and fabric of the community.

Lisa regularly works with small business owners to help them navigate challenges, connect with programs available to support growth, and access the resources that can make expansion and stability possible. She understands that entrepreneurs need responsive leadership and clear pathways to opportunity.

Lisa has also engaged with statewide economic development efforts that promote and strengthen Massachusetts-based businesses, including initiatives to highlight Massachusetts produced goods

Lisa believes that when local businesses succeed, communities grow stronger, jobs stay local, and economic opportunity remains rooted where families live and work.

Seniors, Caregivers & Healthcare Security

Lisa Field’s advocacy for seniors and healthcare is grounded in both lived experience and professional understanding.  She fought to save Morton Hospital and took on Steward when it came to health care cuts. She has supported legislation recognizing and assisting family caregivers (H.3159), reflecting her belief that families caring for aging loved ones deserve meaningful support, stability, and respect.

Lisa’s commitment to healthcare is also informed by her work alongside healthcare professionals, including her time with the Massachusetts Nurses Association. Through that experience, she gained a deep appreciation for the realities facing both patients and providers and the critical importance of safe staffing, workplace safety, and quality care.

Lisa understands that healthcare policy is never abstract. Staffing levels, patient safety, and working conditions directly affect outcomes for families, seniors, and vulnerable residents. Her perspective has been shaped by listening to frontline healthcare workers and recognizing that protecting caregivers and providers ultimately protects patients.

Lisa Field believes families deserve a representative who understands the system, listens carefully, and fights for practical solutions that preserve dignity, safety, and access to care.

Immigration and Transparency

Lisa Field is the proud daughter of immigrants, and her commitment to fairness and opportunity is deeply personal. She understands the hopes, risks, and sacrifices that families make to build better lives, and she believes communities are strongest when hardworking families can live with stability, dignity, and security.

Lisa believes immigration policy should reflect both compassion and clarity. Her legislative record includes supporting measures that responsibly define how state and local agencies interact with federal immigration enforcement, including legislation reviewing collaboration and detention agreements (H.1588) and clarifying state and local participation in civil immigration enforcement (HD 5608).

For Lisa, immigration is not an abstract political issue. It is about families, community safety, economic contribution, and the fundamental belief that fairness, accountability, and opportunity can and must coexist.

Balanced Policy & Accountable Government

Lisa Field approaches complex issues with balance, practicality, and respect for the community. She believes public safety, economic stability, and fairness must work together. Lisa also understands that residents deserve transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and she supports stronger oversight and common-sense governance.

Strong Schools & Career Pathways

Lisa Field believes every student deserves the chance to succeed and build a future with confidence. She cosponsored the American Sign Language Inclusion Act (S.425), reflecting her support for practical, inclusive learning opportunities that help students thrive.

Lisa understands the very real funding pressures facing public schools, especially as communities like Easton continue grappling with Chapter 70 challenges. Families, educators, and local leaders are being forced to make difficult decisions, and Lisa knows there is more work to be done to ensure school funding better matches the financial realities districts are facing. She remains committed to advocating for local schools and the students and teachers who depend on them.

Lisa has long supported vocational and technical education because she knows opportunity looks different for every student. Strong skills training, career pathways, and hands-on learning programs open doors to stable, good-paying jobs and help build the next generation of Massachusetts workers. Her background representing working people has shaped a deep respect for the skilled trades and the role they play in strengthening families, businesses, and communities.

For Lisa, education policy starts with listening to parents, educators, and employers and focusing on practical solutions that prepare students for real-world success.

Affordable Housing & Manufactured Housing Protections

Lisa Field understands that rising housing costs are placing real pressure on families across Greater Taunton and Easton. She has supported efforts to promote fairness and stability in the housing market, including cosponsoring legislation aimed at preventing algorithmic rent-setting practices that can drive up prices (S.1016)

Lisa believes housing policy should protect residents, not developers.

Lisa has also signed onto legislation addressing rising insurance costs impacting residents of manufactured housing communities (S.2738), recognizing the unique challenges many homeowners in these neighborhoods face. Manufactured home communities are an important part of Taunton’s fabric, providing affordability, stability, and homeownership opportunities for many working families.

Taunton is home to several manufactured housing communities. While not all fall within the district, they remain a vital part of the broader community and deserve thoughtful policy, fair treatment, and strong advocacy at the State House.

For Lisa, stability begins at home, and she remains committed to advancing practical solutions that protect affordability, fairness, and pathways to homeownership.

Standing Strong for Veterans

Lisa Field believes that supporting those who have served our country is not a political issue it is a responsibility. Veterans and their families deserve stability, access to care, and the security of knowing their needs will not be sidelined by shifting federal priorities.

As federal funding decisions continue to create uncertainty for programs veterans rely upon, Lisa supports ensuring Massachusetts remains prepared  to protect critical services, healthcare access, and housing support. Honoring service must be reflected in action, not just rhetoric.

Lisa also understands that opportunity after service is essential. She works to help connect veterans and employers with local businesses and workforce resources, strengthening both family stability and the regional economy.

Neighborhoods, Rail, & Quality of Life

Railroads have long been part of Taunton’s industrial history and economic growth, helping shape the city’s development and regional connectivity. Lisa Field recognizes the important role transportation infrastructure continues to play in opportunity and mobility.

Lisa knows that those living near rail lines experience the day-to-day realities of these systems. Noise, environmental effects, and quality of life issues are not abstract policy debates they are lived experiences. Lisa has supported practical measures promoting safer and more responsible rail operations, including legislation requiring the sealing of solid waste containers (H.960).

Lisa Field believes that decisive action can both protect long-term transportation reliability and deliver solutions more quickly for the neighborhoods these systems run through.

Energy Costs & Responsible Planning

Lisa Field knows energy bills are putting real strain on families and small businesses across Taunton and Easton. Costs have risen sharply, and residents deserve relief, transparency, and practical solutions.

Lisa supports policies focused on bringing down costs while still meeting long-term energy and environmental goals. Affordability and sustainability must move forward together  not at the expense of working households.

Lisa also hears the frustration many ratepayers feel as large energy companies continue to report strong profits while consumers face rising costs. She believes energy policy must prioritize fairness, accountability, and the people who ultimately pay the bills.

Instead of political finger-pointing, Lisa believes progress comes from collaboration, careful planning, and smart decision-making that protects both ratepayers and the Commonwealth’s energy future.
